Spring time - Taking notes from the streets of New York

New York fashion week is in full swing and what's better inspiration than the streets of New York!

This year its all about denim,  which is the perfect staple for our Spring weather here in Sydney.
Pair it with a crisp shirt, silk blouse or go all out in double denim.

We've put together some of our favourite street style looks from NY shot by the talented Tommy Ton, as well as our favourite looks styled by us, available in store.

One shirt, 3 ways

A classic white shirt is an essential wardrobe staple, and can be worn in so many different ways.
The Nationale shirt by Malene Birger is inspired by a classic mens shirt, with a straight cut in crisp 100% cotton poplin , wide cuffs,  flattering side splits and a beautiful cut high collar.
We've put together 3 ways on how to style it,  as well as some inspiration from the street.

Layer your shirt under a knitted vest, leather tee or chunky sweater.

The By malene Birger Nationale shirt is available in store and online here
Cropped cotton knit by Zimmermann - Available here
and Leather pants by Smith made - Available here

Match with a skirt or wide leg culottes and heels for a dressier look. A crisp white shirt will make the look effortless without looking too girly.

Tibi maxi skirt in navy - Available here
Dinosaur Designs earrings - Available here

A crisp white shirt and boyfriend denim jeans are a match made in heaven.
We've styled it with our latest obsession, a leather fringe belt by Malene Birger - Available here

Layering | The sartorial splendour of colder weather

If you're anywhere south of the Queensland-New South Wales border then you're probably freezing your tail off. With the wet and wind hitting Sydney hard, Melbourne is due for a good pour all of next week. The only good sartorial solution to these hard-to-handle temperatures is layering. There is almost no limit to layering. Throw together turtlenecks, fine wool knits, leather jackets, giant over coats and wet-resistant trenches to keep yourself dry and warm. Belt it all together to give yourself that form often lost with heavy layers.
